Welcome to our 31st Season!
We begin the season with a musical tribute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice – a concert of profound music to mark Remembrance Day. Our featured work will be the very moving cantata ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ of Vaughan Williams. A sing-along featuring songs from World War II will round out this programme.
Christmas in Stratford would not be complete without a performance of Handel’s most famous work. ‘Messiah’ will be presented on Saturday evening December 15 – a perennial favourite of audience and choir alike!
The young people of Stratford’s very own Playmakers! Theatre School join us in February for our Valentine’s concert – a tribute to Shakespeare. Entitled ‘To Shakespeare With Love’ this concert will feature musical settings of many well-known Shakespeare texts. You will also experience the wonderful talents of these young actors in cameo performances of Shakespeare’s prose and verse, under the direction of Susan Kennedy.
Haydn’s ‘Lord Nelson Mass’ is the featured work for our Palm Sunday afternoon concert. This stirring music features our full chorus in combination with the soaring lines of four soloists.
Our final concert of the season, entitled ‘A Royal Gala’, will mark the end of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee year. This will be a very exciting concert full of grand and exuberant music. National Anthems will be sung amidst selections from many Royal occasions – music from the Coronation, Royal weddings, spanning the 60 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
